Mods: Borla Dual Exhaust with no resonator, K&N Intake, 5k HID headlights and 5k HID foglights, LED Tail lights, Complete interior leds, Ultra Racing Front Strut Bar, Ultra Racing 19mm rear sway bar, 20% tint, Rosen navigation system, 19 inch ASA GT1 wheels
Your better off getting a Camcon. It works on VVTI as well as Dual VVTI engines. In addition to the cost of the unit, tuning on a dyno to achieve max gain are needed. I've seen these all over on the 7th Gen Celica's. Here's a link I posted up in the general Camry section:
no im saying it seems different than those $20 stupid resistors on ebay

I also would like to asked not to be flamed. But, a friend of mine gave me a chip similar to that one, so I consulted my mechanic first and he said to give it a whirl. He was interested in the results, so he put mine in for free. I did not receive any HP gains, but I was not expecting any to be honest. But here's the deal, my mechanic and myself have noticed significant gas mileage increases. So we left it in

Just get some sort of engine management for your mods if you want. Like if you have I/H/E, and other small things, like cam gears and stuff, run a SAFC, or even a piggyback if you want. Have it tuned by a shop for an hour or two, and you will notice much greater increases then a little chip.

Yeah that's exactly what it is. My mechanic, who has been working on imports for 20+ years is lying to me.
/sarcasm
Who cares, I didn't pay for anything, so I didn't lose any money.
I know that these things are scams, trust me, I feel just as you do. But when I fill up my tank and my car tells me I have 270 miles to go till I run out, then my guy puts a chip in and resets the ecu, and I fill up and get 314, it seems like its not placebo.

WTF! Forgive me asking but I do not own a Camry yet. Are you telling you're only getting 314 miles to a tank of gas? My FJ gets darn near 400!
So you're making this assumption of increased mileage based on the figure the trip computer tells you? Do some manual calculations then use those to determine whether you are getting better mileage or not. Plus, you can't definitely say it was the chip that caused that because your ECU was also reset in the process which can be the reason for your trip computer saying that.
Heck, I drive my car with a lead foot and still manage to have my trip computer say that I have 580km cruising range (360 miles), which is not near what my measured value is.
Pretty much. I'll admit that I haven't done any manual calculations. But man, I never said it was the chip. That thing may very well be sitting there, doing nothing.
I understand that the ecu reset could be completely responsible. All I was doing was telling about my experience.

Well looks like your mechanic has yet to come across one of these ebay scams before.
