Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
hey what sup guys, so i had ordered a custom 200amp H/O alt built for my 09 camry 2.4l and i take it to pepboys to have it installed, the guy is searching through the computer for the pricing to replace a stock alt to HO alt. He can not find it anywhere so he goes and ask his boss and they said they don't do this kind of installation because of the electrical system in the 09 camry or something they said its weird. idk, so what do you guys think? The alt requires no modification or anything it is direct bolt on i got it from excessive amperage.com built by nate the owner. I don not want to install it myself because i don't do mechanical work on my car. Has anyone ever placed a ho alt in there gen 6? also he placed a over drive pulley on there so does that mean i can not use the stock belt? thanks for any help
also if its installed incorrectly could it cause the check engine light to come on? it still doesn't make any sense what pepboys said, so what if some one needed a alt replaced for a 09 camry they can't do it? or they just mean they dont do h/o alt installation.....
yeah man idk what pepboys was talking about, maybe after you uninstall it and replace it you have to turn off a service light on the dash or something. idk, it sort of sounded ridiculous to me. I'm going to try somewhere else once monday comes. ill be running a RD alpha 15" off of a saz1500d, pics can be seen at my cardomain site. i did the big 3 in my old car, i currently did not do it to this car yet, i only have the 1/0 gauge wire running from the positive alt post to the positive on the battery. I also have a stinger voltmeter installed.
http://camrystuff.com/ Category is: 2AZ-FE Charging, page 12 for removal of Alternator/Generator. It is a very simple job, if you take you time. Observe and note everything you are working with and touching. The connector only fits in one direction and the loose wire, well that's self explanatory. Good luck!

Very little chance of installing it incorrectly, if you are paying attention. Take your time. First thing disconnect the negative battery terminal.
It shouldn't if it's a quality build item. Pepboys doesn't want the hassle.
haha ok, yeah im pretty sure its quality built. i got it from nate at www.excessiveamperage.com he built it custom for the 09 camry because he was the only one who had an alt. everyone else didn't have anything yet considering the car is too new. thanks for the reply though bro.
