Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
My '07 CE's windows are sticking badly in the up position. When I hit the button to lower them, especially the front windows, they make a loud POP. The passenger one even stalled out because it was stuck so bad, so I carefully pushed out on it and then lowered it to free it.
I do not roll my windows down often (maybe once every 2 weeks in the fall/winter/spring), but I've never had this problem on any other cars.
I have cleaned the windows (they had a black line on them from where they were stuck), and I put a very light coating of white lithium grease on the black rubber where it was sticking. I think this is working good, but anyone else have this problem?
The sticking point is at the top, and it sticks on the inside of the window where it makes contact with the rubber.
As you found the black line needs to be removed. A razor scraper works well (if there's no applied tint). I would suggest a silicone spray such as Jig-a-Loo or similar product on all the rubber surfaces. (I spray it on a cloth or paper towel, then wipe it on.) This will help prevent the doors from sticking in winter as well.
yeah, I have some black stuff on the window lining stuck to the tint. Scared to use goo-gone since i don't wanna ruin the tint! But it does stick when it gets humid though.
yup - I get the window sticking problem as well. Sometimes it sounds like the whole frame is gonna rip out if it's been sitting for a few days.
It's been driving me crazy. I'm gonna try another round of silicone and scrape off the black line.... again
Same here, keep it clean because the last thing you want is that regulator breaking... But ey', atleast you know theres a good seal on em ;-)
thanks, but those effing regulators better be covered under my extended warranty....
and shit man - good seal, sure but I aint goin submersible with my freakin toy !!!
Don't know what warranty you have but mine were not. The window motor was but not the regulator assembly.
"EXTENDED" - I think "Platinum" or some shit - supposedly "every" non-consumable part of the car for some odd years
- I gotta look it up. But it extends the 3 year original warranty - for a fee. how many miles did you have when they broke?
Anywho - anyone know what's best to take that black line off the top of the window? (other than goo-gone)
Even a straight razor was only slightly effective. Im going to try benzine-based solvent. (always my last resort go-to solution)
@nj0ywatch1np0rn - not sure, but better watch it doesn't rip the tint off someday....
@djkor - nice effing car, mate - rock on!! - why don't our Yankee SEs look like that ??

I took it off my 07 last night just using window cleaner and a paper towel.
My windows usually stick every day in the warmer days like you describe. It's OK - nothing will go wrong. I've gone on for over 2 years with this symptom. They still have not broken; neither has the window motor. Just let it be.

The only problem was that I could not roll down my windows at all!! What I did a week ago was to wipe down the seals with lighter fluid, and the window (to remove the black line). Then, I applied silicone spray. It has been good ever since.
Still, it is a little bit annoying that I should have to do this, considering my 11 year old Corolla has never had any problem like this. Oh, well, if what I did a week ago keeps working, it will be OK. I probably will have to put it on the calendar to remind myself to clean and lube the windows every month or so.
