Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Ok I have purchased the above rims off a guy with a Camry. I was wondering how huge of an effect those of you with 20" wheels feel it does to suspension , transmission, and brakes. Are these Rims just too much ? Am I looking for problems. Im changing tires today the one that came on the rims where shot noisey noisey noisey sounded like I was driving on swamp tires. jenli's or something . Tire size is 245/35/20 Im getting away from the v pattern to a all season 20" Dunlop . I want quiet and good ride . Any and all input will be greatly appreciated. Should I stick with Stock ?
Keep in mind that that car is dropped and you will have a bigger gap.
245 is pretty wide, what's the offset?
I have 20" on mine. Your breaks will ware out faster because of the weight when you come to a hard stop at high speeds. You will feel more bumps on the road because of the thin tires. The trany should be fine as long as you don't do stupid stuff, and i have a 5spd.
Your rims don't have anything to do with noise. It's the tires that make road noise. Good quality tires are known to have less noise than poor quality tires.

That is my car with the wheels on , I havent dropped it and dont plan it . I had them on for roughly 8 hrs . Hated them . I guess the tires are so poor . Choppy or whatever . I plan on going to a less aggresive Dunlop Signature 245/35/20 . I'm going to replace 2 and see if they make the car any smoother driving .I have always bigger rims and tires on my SUV's but 12" and 14" rotors with Brembos calipers makes a huge difference which is not the case with the Camry.I have never heard or felt such a poorly feeling tire even when I have broken the belts of tires in my suv. Even my Porsche 911 turbo I have 345/35/19 on I never had an aggressive V pattern tire as these are I had a Yokohama's on it and even when they go away they dont get as loud as these things are. It was outright embarassing driving down the road like wtf is that a truck.

anytime you alter anything on your car, meaning upgrade, there is going to be possibilities. you know what i mean. And if you had a 911 you should know your tires by now.

Choppy?
Could be just a simple need of balance the tires or it could be one of your rims is slight bend thus causing choppy.
