intake for Gen6 I4 is like $250+
i like to have one but $250+ is too much for a intake.
tC n Camry (I4) have the same engine so do u guys think that they can use the same intake. Bc tC intake have more bands n some of them are much cheaper than Gen 6
I tried to search for this but no no answer so any ideas guy?
or any other way to have a cheaper intake( i remember one of us up here custom his own)
good for the help
MAN I WISH THERE FOR MORE MOD PARTS FOR CAMRY OUT THERE
i bought a 40$ a ebay Tc CAI.
worst POS ever. supper thin metal. and horrible filter.
my plan was to make a custom CAI or SRI w/ the help of gene
but once i saw the quaility i scratched that idea and got an Injen (then sold it)
if you do not want to buy a injen or fujita
i say just go to pepboys and get some of their Spectre brand tubes and make your own.
my buddy made one for his Sentra for 70$ and that was including KN filter.
and that shit was LOUD.
so you get what you pay for =)

I'm pretty sure it won't work since their airbox is in a different location from the Gen 6. My neighbor has a tC and I have seen what the engine compartment looks like. Again, you can try but I highly doubt it will work.

bwahaha my ghetto intake on my accord costed less than that! 3" PVC pipe is a good alternative
Re-opened..Keep it ON topic and quit causing trouble centennialman...If you can'r post anything worth while, don't post at all. Same goes for everyone else.
You know what... i think tomorrow morning im going to be fixing the audio system in the gen5 and adding an amp or 2...
If i have some more free time and im bored ill take my ghetto intake i made off my accord and test it on the camry. Im fairly sure the check engine light will come on but if i do, do it ill let you know how it goes.
I could test it on a gen6 I4 but i dont want to mess with the engine and i wont be able to test it right now because it is currently chilling in the garage with no insurance.
i think a short ram, not really in to full CAI
bc the i saw the sensor on the tC look like the gen6 I4, so i think it will work plus i dont wanna the engine light on.
i tried one from a friend, put it in, first thing engine light on, the car started for like 1' then stopped, then the car never turn on again. I put back the air filter then the car work normal again.
i think( only think) the sensor have something to with it.
So here's just a quick pic of how my set up is and before anyone complains or rips on it.. heres WHY I did it and still have it.
First of all my car doesn't have a MAF sensor so I wont run into a CEL problem.
Second, I like the sound it makes
Third, The price was cheap. I only paid for the AEM dryflow filter which is washable and reusable. I got it for the same price of a K&N drop in filter so I decided to stick with this.
So there it is. It was definately worth the money imo and in my situation!
I will attempt to try it on the gen5 tomorrow possibly... I'm going to be expecting a CEL though. I'll let you guys know how it goes and probably take some pics.

Ohh well that sure does help. It will save me some time tomorrow
p.s did you try resetting your computer by disconnecting your battery for a few mins?
i didnt reset it.
idk man
just trying to get a cheaper intake but if i cant ill go with a KN
ill test it out tmrw then if i got the time.
But why not just stick with stock though?
It wont really be worth it paying 250$ for the sound. You could pay 50$ for a drop in and have less sound but they will both have the same performance and they will both be reusable. Except on is more expensive and makes more noise.
If you really wanted the noise you could most likely do some intake box mods to get more of a growl. Not 100% sure but some people take the resonator off, hallow out the box and some even cut a hole at the bottom of the box and add a "ram air" pipe. But the stock box already has one lol.
thx for the help bro
but i was thinking about mod the original air filter box to an intake n keep the sensor but idk yet bc if i mess up my car wont start again.
just hope this will work.
man my friend for a 94 Celica no sensor no nothing, we put the intake in then it work right away( the same one that wont start my car)
