5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Yesterday when I was about to leave for work I noticed that the front bumper of my car was damaged. I don't know how it happend I am thinking it happend early that morning while I was at the gym. I am so pissed off cuz it was a hit and run and now I have to pay for the damage myself. I never had anyone hit me in my '90 Camry, it figures someone would go and mess up my new one that I am still paying for.
Sorry to hear that. Over the weekend, went to meet up my fiancee's godsister. As we walked towards the corner of our destination, we hear this crunching sound. We look behind and we see this UHAUL hit the Toyota Sienna that was parked near the curb. As we turn the corner, you hear more crunching. We turned back, watched and see the driver get out to survey the damage. She gets back in pulls up and crunches some more and finally turns the wheel enough that she doesnt take the bumper with her. I told my fiancee to watch and that the driver is going to drive off. Low and behold, I was right.
Driver didnt come out to see how bad it was. She came out to see how much room she has or how close she was.

That is terrible, did you get the plates on that van so you could report them?
sorry to hear about this too. someone got a dent on my back right fender(luckly its just small like from a door) and also didn't leave any notes or anything. oh well. i guess we have to park at the very last spot and walk a mile to everywhere and also keep our cars way on top of the driveway in order to keep them flawless. though i have some chips on my front bumper from highway so u can't keep it exactly perfect.
some people are just jackasses....
i hate people who damage another persons car and drive away....those people should have their cars crushed and burned
My car has been hit twice and the passenger side has both doors and front and rear fender keyed. Sucks to look at them, but I haven't had time to try touching them up.

You know what's worse than that? Watching a truck carrying rebar improperly secured to a rack and then watching all that shit come off on the roadway. One piece went through the windshield of a minivan right behind it and punched through the passenger seat and the second row seat - no injuries though at least. I was too far to see the plates, but I could see the brakes come on for a sec and then the truck speeding off immediately after.

So should the people watching and not doing SHIT!!

Call the cop and report it while follow the truck?
A few times I saw cars need help on the road and I called 911 for them only to get "It's not in our area". I completely have no idea which 'area' cop I should call.

In a society where you can be successfully sued in civil court for providing first aid, there's more incentive not to help others. Given this is property damage and not bodily harm, I'm sure some dick is going to find some creative way to do it.

No phone at the time. Not that they were all that common in 2000 or 2001. Plus I'm 4 or 5 cars back and the cars in front of me all stopped so I couldn't go anywhere.

Nope. I was already in the middle of the block meeting up with godsister

I was on my way home from late shift at work. I was on the far left lane and this stupid delivery van decided to squeeze between me and the center divider (this was a couple of years ago when I was driving my beat up '95 Ford Taurus). His rear passenger tire side swiped the front of my car rubbing against my front driver tire/rims and my fender/bumper. I swerved nearly side swiping the SUV next to me and hit the center divider (thank you racing games for my quick reactions). Stupid driver kept driving. I sped up chasing after it trying to get license plate and name of company. He ended up exiting the highway at the last minute preventing me from following him. Had I had a more powerful car, I would of sped up and got in front of him to either short stopped or slowed down.
I ended up going to local police department and telling them. Since the car was beat up already, minimal damage (just tire marks from rubbing) and I wasnt injured, I decided not to put a complaint. Couldnt do much either. I think I was so nervous and freaked out, I dont think I got license number correct.
MAn. that sucks dude. i went to bank of america to deposit some money and when i come out i see alot of people looking at my car and i thought "yea... its pretty sexy alright" but when i got home my mom started yelling asking what the hell happen to your car and im thinking wtf. some sucker hit my passenger side front and left HELLA big dent. so i guess those people weren't looking at my car cuz it was sexy :P
