Voiding Toyota's Warranty?

Hello,

I've been getting my oil changes at SpeeDee for the last 10k miles and I'm planning to bring it to the Toyota dealer for 15K miles.

I'd like to know if getting my oil changes at places other than the Toyota dealers will void my warranty.
Like, if I was experiencing problems with the engine and whatnot, I'd still be covered. I didn't pay for the extra warranty, but I know that it's covered under some basic warranty.

Thanks.

Just keep your receipts for the oil changes, in case you ever have to show proof of changing the oil at recommended intervals.

The shop should have everything on their computer anyways.

Shops go out of business all the time. You need to keep your own records.

No worries. According to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, Toyota cannot deny warranty coverage simply because you used aftermarket oil and filters during maintenance. They will have to prove that any failure was the result of using those parts. (And yes, save all your receipts.)

If they require you to use only Toyota oils and filters then they will have to provide them free of charge during the warranty period. And I don't think that is going to happen any time soon.
