Need some help! Driveline vibrations
This is on a 2006 Base Camry 4cyl, 36k, no wrecks, recent front end alignment, brand new tires.
I bought the car new and take great care of it. I have had trouble keeping the wheels/tires balanced since about 15k. It came with the goodyear Integrity tires. I had a bad tire and the extended tire plan or whatever its called. For some reason the dealer refused to replace the tires(even at 15k), they kept blaming other things for the car shaking. I have spent hundreds of dollars doing things the dealer told me I would have to do prove it was in fact a bad tire. So far I have had the front end aligned, regular rotate, rotate with balance, and a force balance. The shake never ended and the dealer wouldnt admit it was the tires. I was so tired of the shaking I went to an independant tire shop and bought a new set. Guess what!!! The balance issue is fixed! I took a nice road trip today to check out the ride and I discovered that I have something causing a vibration only at highway speeds. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate the vibration ranging from 2 to 3(just enough to be annoying). The vibe starts about 72-73 mph and gets worse as the speed is increased. The feel is much different from the tire issue. The tires were giving a shake(sometimes violent) at lower speeds around 40mph. This vibration can be felt in the steering wheel and through the seat. It is possible that the vibe slightly increases when I apply the brake, but will stop if I drop below the 72mph mark. It doesnt do it every time I hit 72mph. Parts of the interstate have a rougher texture on the road and that seems to bring on the vibe. Also when you are cruising 75ish mph the vibration will slowly start to appear and increase in intensity. I am thinking that this is a possible brake rotor with a slight warp, but I am out of money to throw at the problem so I wanted to get a few opinions for other toyota owners. Any opinions will be greatly appreciated. If you need more info let me know.
