Gen5 Newbie Help! advise on tune up and mod ... 02 se

Hi guys,

I have not change anything in the car. but now the car is a bit over 100k miles.. I'm thinking of tunning it up a little.

please share your experience if you have done anyof following.. I really don't know what i'm doing and i would appreciate every reply. thank you.

1. Change spark plugs to top of the line ngk?

2. Install TRD Sway bar and Front Strut? Does it make a diffrence? on regualar driving?

3. K & N air filter // or K&N Cold Air Intake.

4. My shock is gone.. it makes sweesh sound when i go over a smallest bumps.. Do i change all 4 or just back 2? can you recommend a brand ? model? what is diffrence between coilover and spring set?

5. Seafom the car

6. how are tein s springs? does lowering car does make a diffrence because center of gravity is lower? maybe i should get this with gr-2..

Thank you.

Thank you.
1) Yes definitely.
2) Rear sway makes a huge difference. Front strut really doesn't.
3) No difference at all. Just sound.
4) Change all 4. At 100K miles, your struts are blown. I'm almost 100% sure.
Struts I recommend KYB-GR2. Same struts on the Camry SE. Coilovers are damper and height adjustable. Also adjusts your price range to almost 1000 dollars compared to around 300-400 w/ the struts.
5) Definitely helps. Seafoam before you change your spark plugs. Run it through the VAC line. Don't put it in the gas tank or anywhere else. A bunch of people on TN put it in every damn imaginable place and it does nothing. VAC line is the only line w/ suction directly to molest every good part of your engine.

Paul Made some great points

See, I am in the same boat as you, when I got my 04 it had like 110K on it, so heres my experience with these...

1. When I changed mine, I took it to the Toyota Dealership because every shop I could find was too afraid to change them out. The entire intake manifold has to be removed on the V6's.

2. Paul Summed it up best...I have no experience with this...yet

3. Like Paul said, either or. Both will be a huge increase from the piece of cardboard that comes stock. I plan to get a K&N filter today.

4. Go with what Paul said...I have no experience with that.

5. I haven't seafoamed mine yet :/

6. S Techs are good. I am lowered on H&R's and I love them. It is mainly for appearance. No Camry springs will drop you more than an inch really :/ But you can definitely tell a difference in handling. It gives the ride a more sportier feel.

And yes, lowering will effect the center of gravity. It eliminates a lot of body roll and decreases the possibility of flipping slightly.

seafoaming will molest your engine in all the good ways. Kind of like Mariah Carey molesting you the way R kelley would molest your children.

Are Gen 5/5.5 I4 chain or belt? 100K. Spark plugs, Timing belt and water pump (while you're there), Toyota Super long life Coolant, brake fluid.

TRD rear sway bar = YES!
K&N drop-in filter = YES!
Struts/shocks = KYB GR2 + Tein. YES!

Are you selling one? Because I'd love to take it off your hands if the price is right
