5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Everytime I passed by a rough / wavy roads, I hear thumping or knocking noise coming from under the car (rear). Sometimes on speedbumps too, if I go a little too fast. Could it be the toolbox I have in the car? But it sounds like it's coming from under the car (rear). I don't wanna take it to the dealer if it's normal.
Oh and also if I shift it from R to D, while it's slightly moving to the opposite direction, sometimes I hear the same knocking sound from the same area.
I remember some of you have the similar problem with the RSB or something?
I havent heard any noise from there ever, but my driver side door does rattle along with the sun roof area. Its annoying and drives me insane some times

I hear this too but in the front. I'm not sure if it's the suspension of the car.

I get a weird jerk and knock but sound more like the engine.

If it's not broken I'm not going to fix it.

Well, if it's a known problem or if it's normal, I don't wanna take it in, cause they'll keep it all day, I gotta work, and I dont' know what they did to it.

Is my car falling apart or what?
Now, why on earth would you shift it from R to D while your car is still in motion? If you keep driving it like that your car will fall apart.

I dont do that when the car is like 5mph. When back up out from a spot, the car is slightly rolling and I put the car in drive and have no sounds. I did however put the car from R to D real quick while car was in motion and car jerks. Once, it even stalled and locked up (trying to backup before cars came to get over to other lane..stupid me)
i shift from R to D when it's rolling very slowly...no sounds or jerks...like DC i did it once when it was rolling faster than normal and it just stalled out...but nothing more..
the moon roof noise i know there is a recal for. the noise from back i would have that checked out gt-r. maybe have someone else drive with you to listen so u can pin point the noise.
