In market for used Camry Please Help!

Hello everyone been looking around a lot trying to find a good car at a good value. I found a 2008 Camry SE with 16,000 miles on it that I'm interested in. I have been reading a lot about transmition issues due to programming. Is there a way I can know if this car has been reprogrammed with the new software? Also this is my first car I am buying (just out of college) anything you would recommend that I should look for or be aware of? Thanks guys!

is it an I4 or V6?

You can ask the seller/dealer if they had it reflashed to fix the tranny problem.

Im not trying to advertise anything, but here is the listing im looking at, if this is allowed.

http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/cto/1192491508.html

I called this guy and he is selling it for his uncle so I don't think he knows a whole lot about it. It looks to me like its an SE even though it is listed as a LE.

Thanks

it is an LE I4.

I don't think you have to worry about the transmission flare, i believe they were only on the V6's and i think they fixed it for '08

The SE has a front lip/side skirts/rear valence.

Thanks, so would you recommend this car assuming there are no issues with it?

yea it's nice, i like the colour. If you get it i would consider getting lowering springs (H&R springs)

The price seems alright, you may try and see if he'll go lower. Check if it's been in any accidents too

You're not likely to get an honest answer but you might ask why they are selling the car. If they are behind on the payments, this should trigger the next question which is to ask for the oil change paperwork. Even at 16k miles you should find 3 instances of dealer visits.

Talk to the dealers in the area and see if they have anything comparable for the same money. Tell a sales guy what you are looking at. They might have an off-lease at a good price. As a new grad you don't want to encumber your future with a car that will nickel you to death.

nickel? Try $2.37/gal. Not a good time to drive right now. Every fill up is getting closer and closer to $50/tank.

i think he meant in terms of things going wrong with the car, breaking down or major repairs due to lack of maintenance by the previous owner.

its an 08 w/16K miles. Why worry? still has plenty of warranty remaining. The price sounds good to me.

If in doubt always buy the V6!

Though if you are so concerned about the auto four why not find a manual?
