New and looking at 2007 and up camry

Hello to all,

I have been looking at a 2007 and up Camry SE with either the 4 or the 6. I first want to tell you that it's been kinda tough because I would need to sale my beloved 1992 Mister 2. Have had ths car for 10 years so a tough road ahead. Anyway, I will be most likely buying one later this year or next spring. I have been leaning to the SE with the 4 banger because we have a Lexus RX and I have a 3/4 gas Chevy truck to pull our camper. The 4 banger I would assume would be much better on fuel. I'ts only the 3 of us riding so power shouldn't be to bad. My wife had an 1992 Camry and sold it for the RX. It had the 2.2 just like my MR2. But since we had our daughter, I really am thinking about getting a larger car. Being that said, what kinda fuel milage does everybody get withe both the 4 and the 6. Please be honest, I would like to know. Also has these cars had any problems and if so what are they. I appreciate all of the comments, I looked at the SE today at the stealer and fell in love. Wierd that in my mid life crises I am leaving my sports car and buying a 4 door?

Thanks,
Kris

You wont get a concrete answer to fuel mileage. Everyone has their own driving habit. Some will have heavy foot while others dont. Some are doing more highway miles and others local.

I get about 24mpg on my v6. I do mostly highway but usually stuck in traffic.

I'm heavier than most on the throttle, but do a lot of highway commuting.
2009 SE I4 automatic.
30 freeway, 24 city. I average 27.5 with my mix of driving.
I live in an area near a mountain range and the transmission does a LOT of downshifting. The I4 would probably seem happier on flatter ground, but it doesn't mind it when the trans drops to 3rd for a pass doing 73mph.

09 SE V6 I usually average around 25 more street than hwy. The highest i have averaged on one tank was 27 and that was mostly highway with me setting the cruise @ 70. The lowest i have gotten was 22 and that was because I had a very heavy foot that tank.

I have the V6 and I drive either 100% city or 100% highway and not much in between. I get 30mpg at highway and 19city.

Edit: My numbers are with 100% A/C on and never really <70C but often more like >80C.

I live in a rural, flat area. We, my wife and I, average 27 mpg "local" and on two 1680 mile trips, consistent 35 mpg. Not too moderate or very aggressive driving. This "I4 automatic" car just "LOVES to CRUSE", I have to hold'er back..........

P.S. My 1997 Olds Achieva V6 with over 131,000 miles on it, hit 28.1 mpg on local trips.......... No major issues, No Payments, AC is COOL..... Think I will drive it some more........

Went to Hershey, PA over the weekend. From Westbury, NY (LI) to Hershey, PA, I got 29mpg. It was about 185 mile trip. I had a little more than 1/4 tank and could of made it to NJ before I filled or even home. But decided to fill since the wifey was sweating up the storm and wanted the AC. Having AC on would use up more gas so I filled it up. I was driving between 70-80mph

I have 2007 Cam SE with I4 auto. Really nice ride, you won't have to worry about gas mileage at all. Pick-up is really good, I merge with traffic and cruise @ 84 without breaking a sweat.

I have a baby(17 months old) myself and cannot picture a better commuter. I love it. SE has really good suspension and handles really well.

Hope this helped.

Now, that is a hot environment. Where do you live, hell?

FYI: Above 55mph having the AC on is more fuel efficient then having all 4 windows down.

I used to go to Haledon, NJ all the time with my car 200 mile round trip plus another 50 or so around there. Everything on half a tank of gas.

How about this for a one trip mileage?
Left western side of Indiana, traveled to East Coast and some local driving on one tank.
Total miles traveled: 1380
Gas used 16.3 Gallons
MPG 84.67

Oh, yea

Car was towed on a trailer, 17 foot box truck only got 10 MPG. Actual local only road mileage was 465 miles, used 16.1 gallons, got 28.8 mpg.

Gen6

2008 Camry SE V6; I drive it, like I stole it everywhere.

21.5 mpg; same as what I got from my old 1998 Camry v6 with trd springs.

:c lap:

I am happy with that.
