Gen6 Creeky steering sounds? Rim related?

Hey guys,

I've recently been hearing a creeking/knocking sounds when steering either direction. Has anyone else heard this?

I'm not sure if it is rim related (since the rims are probably heavier, etc), but I have 19" Axis Hiro's on.

Does anyone know what the creeking sounds might be?

Any help is appreciated!

Depends where it comes from. I have some creeking from the steering column and most noticeable on real hot days (almost every day now). Dealer tried to "fix" it once (tech talked about applying teflon grease)...worked for a day or two. I am too lazy to go back again.

PS: Has nothing to do with your Hiro's...really.

wow, i guess my car isnt the only one that creaks. i hear it when i step out of the car. i think it's caused from the metal expanding/contracting from the heat.

After driving more, I have notived I hear it only when turning the wheel while moving slowly and probably stopped (I know "dry steering" is bad)

Some thoughts:

Could it be from stress on the steering mechanisms from turning the wheel as such slow speeds, that its the same as "dry steering"?

Could the extra width of the tires be too much added friction for the steering to handle on slow turns?

Or could this be a "normal" sound? You just don't hear it while moving?

That creaky noise happens when I drive straight... not even doing turns lol.
Used to happen only in the front, where I'd hear the noise... now I hear the creaking noise behind me as well every "once in a while".

My dad's gen 5 makes creaking sounds but mine doesn't. Don't know the cause of it.
