Lowering springs advisable for 100K gen5?

Hey guys,

I'm planning on lowering my car soon and getting my rims in 2 months (gotta save up first).

Would it be advisable to use lowering springs on my camry? It's almost at the 100k mark so I was wondering if the shocks would still be able to handle the extra pressure due to the lowering springs or would i need coilovers (sooo expensive)?

Thanks in advance

you can just get new struts with the lowering springs...or go full coilovers...

you dont 'need' coilovers, but they do ride a bit better as you can adjust rebound rate on your shocks.

otherwsise, in my opinion, install the springs and worry about the shocks when and if they ever go. I have my springs on stock shocks (installed at 75,000kms) and the car now has well over 160,000kms (about 4 years dropped) no problems at all. springs are easy to DIY.

I put Eibach springs on stock struts and they were fine. After about 18 months, they started feeling worn. I then put KYB gr-2 struts on the same Eibach springs. They felt okay for a few months then they too felt worn.

Another words, the Eibach springs looked good and the handling was good also. I am just not too sure about the KYB's.

I am also in a similar situation as you are. I am ready to rid the old Eibachs and KYB's and not sure which direction to go. I am looking at the BC Racing coilovers. I called BoostandDestroy, but they are not sure if the coilovers from the 2003 would fit my 2002. Does anyone here know? Thanks.

If I were in your 'boat', I'd go with Vogtland springs and KYB struts. I read reviews claiming that the ride quality is not compromised and handling is awesome with Vogtland, not to mention more aggresive look. I can't wait to stick those in my car.
