2005 Camry Bouncy Ride

Hello All,

I've got a 2005 Toyota Camry LE, Ive had this car for a little over a year now and the drive just keeps getting worse. It's bouncy when I go over bumps and the handling is really bad on it. My dad's 2002 Avalon handles way better than my camry. At slow speeds when I take turns I can feel the entire body roll. Haven't taken it to any mechanics yet, just wanted to get some people's opinions on what it could be. I'm assuming my shocks and gone, its only got 66k miles on it. Any ideas fellas? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like your shocks are shot.

Is that common on a car with under 70k?

Maybe the previous owner drove hard. I think the OEM KYB struts are still progressively dampened and like to burst their seals easily because of it.

But MacPherson struts are usually gone around 50K miles because they are structural components. Non-structural "shocks" are usually good > 100K miles.

Just make sure the ball joints are still good and that the bushings aren't cracked. Also check the sway bar links.

my thoughts too....my car has 115k on stock struts and eibachs, and i'm thinking my rear struts are kinda shot...but its a camry, not a race car....

it still rides a hell of a lot better than the miata on tokico coils....

if it bothers you enough. Replace the struts.
