5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
i have searched and searched, has no one taken on this project? for you dealer guys if you have the infl on the relay locations and pins i can figure it out for us.
thanks
I assume you have a Gen 6 and you meant fog lights on without DRL? Luna2 sent me a document on trying to do it.
"The "Body ECU" uses transistors to "Pull Down" the relays. My warning about excess current (adding a relay coil increases current) could cause a failure of that transistor. The attached drawing uses no additional current to the "Body ECU" but adds it to the headlight you attach it to, still well within the limits of this fuse protected circuit. Get the matching harness with the relay, a bit of over kill, but the easiest to connect and won,t cause future problems because the DRL wires current (below 1 amp) is less than 1/40 th. of the relays current rating."
I havent had time nor the knowledge so someone who's more knowledgeable with this can try it out. I wish Gen 6 was as easy as how it was for Gen 5. Splice of wires and installing a resistor.
I want it where the fog turns on with my parking lights and the DRL doesnt come on. It would look so sexy with my white led parking lights. YUM!
Idk if you can do that without changing up the wiring and putting a switch for the parking lights too, or connect the parking lights to the fogs harness.
i would like to be able to power on the fogs with the parking lights ( first click ) without the low beam. this would mean that i would like to transfer the lead wire that closed the fog relay from the low beam to the park lights. this will allow the auto to still remain functional and the fogs to be on without the low beam and still be perfectly legal. if this is what you guys want as well anyone who has info on the curciut please post it and i will figure out the DYI.
thanks
its unfortunate that there are so many users in this forum that seem to use this as there main source of entertainment. if you search the lexus forums on here you find so much knowledgeable people who share real facts and experiences. The camry forums are full of haters and captain obvious and his super friends. All the haters who have never changed their own oil and never seen a timing belt and cant even change there own radio should just chill. Get a girl, take your kid to the park, help your mom fold your underwear before she puts the away for you before you show how intelligent you are in these posts.

i was actually going to try this a few months back because i have my fogs wired into my drl's. but then life happened, and i never got around to it. maybe having the dealer disable the drl's....but if you disable the drl's, would that also disable the fogs?
