People w/ S-chassis nissans somtimes do it too. Just custom make the face, and start drilling for your gauges. Not that hard to make. Its just connecting the mechanical gauges that is a pain. Those are procomp gauges, not exactly cheap gauges... Those run up to 100 per gauge, and thats not even the RPM gauge.. Just small oil pressures etc..

leave ur original ones. they really dont give extra horse power and really just belong on old american muscle. search around for nicer ones for your gen5. if not then tint the clear plastic and ull have ones similar to gen6 where u see em only when they are on. u can also see if u can get the lexus ES ones that are similar to gen5 ones to fit inside your car.
What are you trying to accomplish? Total custom gauges? Do you want to monitor oil pressure? water temp? trans temp? First figure what you want to achieve, once you have that. Let us know and we will help as best as we can.

i know it wont give me any horsepower lol, and ive seen it done on some sick looking subarus.

instead of changing the face plate change the guages themselves, you can get some nice colorign for them especially led backing along with diffrent colors
