Gen6 Help with Fog Light HID Wireing....

I purchased a fog light kit from ebay and just finished installing it. It works fine with my switch I installed and the relay it brought. However when I disconnet the harness from the H11 bulbs that came with it and connect them to my HID ballasts they do not turn on. I hear the relay click which means it is closing but my HID's do not turn on.

I remove the balast and reconnect the regular H11 bulb to the harness and they turn on.

HELP!!!!!! how do I fix this so I can connect my HID's???? Has anyone done this before?

+1.

though i'll still try to help. the ballasts came with the bulbs right? if so then theres a chance the ballasts might be bad. also my suggestion is to use this as a excuse to return the hids and eather get them from a more reliable and quality place like modexpress or to just get some better halogen bulbs because the cops will be all over you for the hid fogs blinding others. just get some 5k white halogen bulbs and get 5k hids in low beam and cover the squirrel spotters and you'll be all good.

i don't know too much about the wiring part but i do know that no matter what the ebay ones are cheap kits that won't last long. i would return and get a kit from modexpress. they have a good deal right now on their kits. those will last you a long time. u can try going by any local shop and they should be able to help. the ballast most likely is at fault. could also be the + and - are upside down on your harness so thats why it ain't working with the ballasts.

The ballast and bulbs are functional because they came off of my low beams. They work with my low beams. i am doing this more for show than actual driving. My headlights have been modded to have angel eyes and I want the look of angel eyes up top and HID fogs below. Seeing how both are 8k....but I can't get them to turn on with the fog kit.

How is the light output on a 8k halogen bulb? Not even close to HID's huh?

And yes I to agree about the light output. But they are pointing downward....

ok so maybe its something in wiring. i'll let someone else help as they will know more than me. the halogen bulbs btw will give same color but wont glare as much or give as much output. eather way though, at 8k ur sacrificing lumens anyway even on hids.

4300K gives most lumens. so u can go with 4500 or 5000K kits. if u really like the blue of the 8k kits then my suggestion is to pay someone to do a retrofit for you. reason being is if he does the right projectors and mods then he can get you a real nice white light with a really nice strong blue on the cutoff. when u drive the lights will flicker and at certain times become nice and blue. its a matter of preference really. if u like the 8K then keep it. if u want more lumens ie more light but more of a white/halogen color then get 4500-5000K. don't make my suggestions completely change what u like as i went my way(retrofit and philips 85122+ bulbs) bc i wanted not to glare anyone, have more white light but ultra blue cutoff, i like how retrofits look, and i don't like the strong blue of the 8K kits. also, most of the info i mentioned before and now has been mentioned so u can do a search to get even more info.

a couple of things could be hapening here. first lets check the wireing. if you are using a premade relay kit cut the ground wire from the trigger that you are connecting to the cars wire harness and connect it to the ground you are connecting to the chassis. make the connection under the relay. connect your ballasts and bulbs. NEVER POWER UP YOUR BALLASTS WITHOUT THE BULBS CONNECTED. take a jumper wire and go from positive on you batt to positive on your trigger harness. the harness the chineese use is for a 9006 bulb and the h11 pins are set closer tougether so even thought they look the same sometimes they dont line up right. did the bulb light? if not then we need to change the relay. the ballasts have a protection cuircut in them and any brief loss of power will shut down the ballast while it is charging. even though its clicking it may not be closing right. get a hella 30 am spdt relay it will cost you about 5 bucks at autozone. if you need anymore troubleshooting check my website ambiancecustoms.com it has install instructions on it. you need to use the relay for our cars so dont get discouraged its probably something stupid. by the way DO not touch the bulb if you have done so already clean it with alcohol

Sorry if this was already said by someone else but double-check that your relay is connected properly.....

The fog relay that comes together with the foglights should have a wire that connects to a fuse and from that fuse, the same wire goes straight to the battery. The other accompanying wire should touch the car's chassis as a ground source. There should also be one wire that should be connected to a "trigger" power source, such as the parking light.. You should make sure that this is all correctly done and then test your foglights with regular H11 bulbs. If it turns on, then your foglight relay is working fine.

If you want to run HIDs in your fogs, you will need to purchase a HID Relay Kit ($11 shipped on eBay). http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/H11-H...lenotsupported

Once you get that, I'll let you know what to do next.
