5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I go to the toyota jp website they showed with the factory HID headlamp in all 2010 camry why the us model doesn't come as option. I looked the picture it look like similar to the halogen bulb lens, here the picture.
In Japan of course every option is available. The reason why they don't offer factory HID in North America is because luxury features would steal sales from the Lexus versions of the same car (ES350). The current Camry is already very luxurious in SE and XLE trim...
Plus it would eat into their Avalon sales.

yep. i would love factory hids and factory supercharger. but we all know that won't come true any time. i don't mind not having factory hid so much. my retro will beat the factory setup any day. only thing thats better is the s2k projectors.
if u like to spend 300 bucks+ for just the projectors then sure. plus my projectors are almost exactly up to par with stock s2k projectors. you need to modify the s2k ones to warrent the extra money. wait till the replica s2ks come out via RFS. they will be cheeper and already modded to their full potential. also i will have to make sure they will fit. didn't someone have to put them in the high beam area bc they wouldn't fit in low beam?
The Jap HID factory setup is most likely D4S. The headlights on the japanese built 07 camry's in the US have a spot molded for the D4S ballast. Aftermarket lights from Eagle Eyes copy the japanese headlights. Anyone have pictures of the back of the Gen6.5 headlights to compare?
These pictures are from my D4S retrofit:

The spare headlights I bought for the retrofit had this section for the ballast. But my Hella/Philips Gen 3 was just a tad bit small to fit in there. Would of been perfect instead of mounting my ballast on my beam.

well i need to find out if my dad is interested in doing more than a few but i think 500 for everything sounds right. the parts alone are 360. 150 goes as labor. this includes bulbs, ballasts, harness etc.. when i'm done with my retro then contact me and we can work something out.
yea its like 450 but ballasts, bulbs, and harness are seperate so you need to add in cost of those. thats close to 200 bucks. but yea i'm not sure if i'm going to be doing same service as jsm yet so if u want one asap then contact him still.
