Gen6 steering wheel vibration on freeway

recently I noticed that driving over 80 mph on a smooth freeway produces a vibration on the steering wheel. Should I have it checked out?

I had that on my car after the dealer rotated the tires. They tried to balance them but to no avail. I then went to Discount tire and they did the job right.

A good balancing job should resolve the vibration

I don't know about you, but the posted maximum speed allowed in my state is 65MPH. I would suggest simply slowing down.

the vibration still will happen at about 65. get a alignment done on the car and enjoy.

Some counties in Texas have an 80 MPH speed limit.

The balancing could be off as well, when my car's steering wheel was vibrating it was due to improper balancing

Like MEGADETHFAN said originally, most likley you tires are out of balance. It's not uncommon to loose a wheel weight and throw the balancing off.

now that i really could think..... if u let go of steering wheel at regular to higher(max 60) and it goes one way or other then u need alignment. if u go over 60 and the car vibrates then ur off balance. rebalance all wheels.

Double-check inflation pressures first.

I got my vibration issue solved (almost a year later) I had got after market rims on my Cam so I don't know if it will apply here but the I guess when they put the rims on they forgot to put something called a wheel spacers on one of the rims. Since then my vibration is gone.

It's called Hub-Centric Ring.

I experienced the same problem and my car is still under warranty. They have a TSB for that and I got a new front brakes done.
