Hey guys, first I wanna thank yall for being so helpfull, anyways here we go
about four months ago my 07 Camry SE i4, was hit in the rear so bad that the insurance company wanted to total it, well I only got about six months to go on my loan so I dicided to convice the insurance company to fix it(I'll get something else once I'm done with this one)
Well it was so bad that the body shop where I took it, chop it in half... yea it was BAD!!!My question; the shop is using the rear end from a 09 Camry CE.
with mine being an SE and the other an CE would the rear suspension be the same or different??? I call the dealership and told me it was the same>>>
Please any feedbacks would be greatly appreciated!!!
different.
SE rear sway is thicker, and the shocks are KYB GR2s. Different springs also. Totally different suspension. the SE also has a rear cage which stiffens up the chassis, which means u cannot fold down the seats.....
If you have to chop a car in half, TOTAL THE CAR! No matter how good of a job, splicing two cars together. Thats plain irresponsible, and I'm surprised that insurance companies let body shops do such a dangerous thing..

My understanding it.. If the frame of the car is so bad that the bodyshop now have to splice two cars together, why did you actually convince the insurance not to total your car?

it absolutly should be totaled... im not actually sure what they are doing by splicing two car together is even legal it is that dangerous
plus if they are actually allowed to do this you car will have to carry a salvage title and you will never be able to trade it and it will be hard to sell it... just total it and get a new car... plus if you were rear ended it shouldnt be your fault and therefore shouldnt be your insurance covering it make them get you a new car
This is the stupidest and most unsafe thing i've ever heard.
Lier. This is not the most unsafe thing U've heard.
Have U heard of ppl backing up from a highway exit? The one way exit to get on the highway is almost a hard 90 degree turn and blind by trees and the wall to deflect the highway noise. And this woman in a van backing up from it. I wish someone had totaled her car for her stupidity.
Oh, to the OP.... usually if the frame is fix like this the car is out of balance/align so you will feel it when doing highway speed.
There is NO WAY any reputable shop would resort to cutting a car in half and joining it. I suspect they're probably just cutting and shutting the rear end hanging panels around the original rails. Still the car WILL be completely and utterly stuffed after the repair. Rear end repairs almost always end up shit. If they haven't done it yet, just take the money and walk away. Even if you take a small financial hit just do it. You'll have a nightmare of a time trying to sell a vehicle after a major repair. Just let them write it off.
I went through the same thing with my first car (a jap import corolla). It had a rather heavy rear ender that should have written the car off but I demanded that it was fixed. Sure I'd only had the car a few months but it was a total mistake, I should have taken the money.

lol that's bad too. But that's the nature of van drivers lol.
Hit enough potholes and the car will fall apart. (not really)
