So my front windshield was struck by something over night at the top of the windshield where it meets the car. You can see a chip at the top the winshield and on the car so it was eathier one of the stupid crows who hates me and always poops on my car, decided to get a rock and drop it on my car, or a passing car flung a rock up and hit my winshield. The worst part is is that it must of hit a sweet spot so now i got a crack from the top of my windshield all the way to the bottom. You can not feel it on the inside or out, and i called the toyota dealership to get a quote to fix the windshield and they quoted me $1200. I wanted to keep my car a toyota car and didnt just want to go to some random windshield shop and get a piece of cheap of glass thrown on, has anyone else had to replace their front windshield? So i was wondering should i worry about replacing it now or should i go for an exhaust or something else?
also if you bay area CA guys or gals know of a good place to get your windshield changed let me know thanks also tinting i need my 2 front windows tinted any places you know of?
a windshield is a windshield. There is no such thing as "Toyota car". Get the window replaced before you get a ticket or more serious injury could be done.
Put tints or exhaust and its not a "Toyota Car" anymore.
i dont mean a toyota car i just mean toyota parts, they were saying there was some special thing with the glass that it reads the temperature and some weird stuff, so its ok just to go down and get any piece of glass thrown on?
i know what im going to do, got the idea from another thread on here. Im going to make a claim with ym insurance company and even if they say i have to take it to a regualr repair/windshield shop im going to have them order a oem windshield. Still any ideas on a good shop in the bay area to go to to get the actual work done?
If it's a chip, it can be repaired up the the size of a dollar. They use an epoxy and vacuum all of the air out where the epoxy is. It fills in the crack and looks like it never happened...
Much cheaper than a new windshield, usually around $50. Most insurance companies will cover it with no deductible.
yea call insurance. if not ask around for a good glass place to do it. only think u'll sacrifice with non oem part is the toyota etching on it but besides that if its from a good place then you won't have to worry.
thats my plan if they will alow me go to the dealer i will if not i will go to a regular glass shop and just have them order the oem windshield like someone said before
i have what ever i need to have as i am still paying off the car so i should have i will make sure on monday as i want to get it repaired before the meet up on the 19th
