19" Tire Fitment on '07 Camry - Help!
I posted this in another thread, but hoping to get some more folks with experience to chime in. I ordered some 19 x 8.5 wheels for my 2007 Camry SE, and was under the impression they would be +35mm offset. It turns out the size that was sent, based on the manufacturer recommendation for the car, was a +45mm offset. I'm going with a 245/40 19 tire, and currently at stock height (I might lower in the future but nothing definite). I tried to see about returning the wheels but the company wants a 30% restocking fee (ridiculous). The tires aren't here yet and the wheels are still boxed, yet I'm kinda screwed. My paranoia with the +45mm (even though it might allow me to lower without fender rolling) is whether a 245/40 tire will rub the strut on the inside of the wheel. When we test fit just the wheel on the back there was a finger gap (small finger mind you) between the strut and the edge of the rim. Will a 245/40 19 tire "stretch" enough to prevent rubbing on the inside? I can't test fit with the tire and wheel because they said they won't accept returns on either once mounted. One option I'm told is a 10mm spacer or whatever (although I think I'd need new lug bolts too) but that would cost as much, or more, than just paying the restocking fee and getting the +35mm wheels. Tires will be here Monday so any advice you guys can provide would be appreciated. Also, I know 235/40 19 is recommended but there isn't much selection and they cost A LOT more.
