08 Camry check engine light

2008 V6 Camry
At start the engine sounded rough then the light came on.

Autozone code P0300

1. Lean Air/Fuel ratio-fuel pump
2. Faulty MAF/VAF sensor
3. Large Vacuum leak
4. Ignition system fault

Any help would greatly be appreciated or should I go to the dealer?
Thanks.

Good chance that it's the MAF sensor.

If that is the only DTC that was set then it is only misfiring at high RPMs.

You can start replacing parts or have the dealer put it on their intelligent tester and do a step by step diagnosis.

Exactly, you need a better scanner to narrow that down so you know where the fault is.

Well, took it to the dealer today. Tech spent an hour with it and no answer. Said it was probably a misfire and asked about the gas. I said I use regular 87 and he said try 93 at the next fill-up. I can't understand that. All I know is they gave me the same info I had from Autozone but for a $50 charge.

So Toyota charges you to diagnose a fault (MIL light) during warranty period??

You might want to read the thread to avoid an uneeded question.

would a P0300 code be covered under 3 years 36,000 mile warranty?

Yes, also the 60/60 warranty. But not at 75k miles.

I have an 08 Camry as well, mine threw a P0300 and P0301. I replaced the MAF, but that turned out not to be it. It turned out to be a PCV valve. I had replaced it at 40k (no code then), but now throwing a code. The toyota specialist shop I took it too said newer PCV valves dont need to be replaced unless they fail (in this case mine did). Cost was only $5 plus the $65 diagnostic fee. My advice would be try the $5 part and see if that solves your problem. If it does turn out to be a MAF, I have one I will sell you for a good price.

I'm getting the same code error on my 2010 V6 Camry at 18,000 miles. It has happened three times now and after the first time I took it to the dealer. I was driving on the highway and all of a sudden I felt a jolt and the car seeme dlike in was stuck in lower gear. The exhaust also started to sound like crap and it was raspy(I have dual vibrants). The car idled horribly and everytime I stopped it felt like the engine was going to die. The dealer took the car in an hour later but by that time the problem stopped. All they could tell me was that they got the code but couldnt determine what it was unless I brought it in while the engine or tranny was acting up.

The problem seems to occur when i'm driving on the highway (unavoidable for work) and going 65+ for periods of 10 minutes or longer. It just happened tonight and it's pissing me off. I'm thinking of forcing the car to generate the blinking check engine light/traction control light and bringing it straight to the dealership. The problem seems to go away after the car is off for a while.

Anyone have any ideas?

Only after market items I have are exhaust with deleted resonator and a Fujita CAI. I know its not the intake because I checked all the hoses and clamps and everything is secure. Thanks

Edit: Took it to dealer today after I purposely caused the problem so they could see for themselves. They said it was an issue with my fuel/air sensor and it needed to be replaced. Couldn't wait for them to replace it because I had to go to work so I have a rental in the meantime. Will see if they problem was fixed on Monday when I pick up the car
