Gen5 Camry Philippines Versions

I worked in the Middle East and I saw a lot of Camry's here, but in my experience, although Camry's in the Middle East looks almost the same as the Camry's in the Philippines, the parts are different.

I own a 2004 Camry 2.0G (1AZFE) in the Philippines. I got it used (2nd hand) with 60K kms on it. Owning a used car sometimes comes with a tag. According to Toyota, previous owner had some parts replaced with "replacement parts" like the shocks, break pads, drive shaft, etc.

Anyway, due to a price difference, I bought the shocks from the Middle East for the model 2007 instead of 2004, and it worked.

My question is, where did the Philippine version Camry's manufactured and is it practical to buy them from somewhere else? 'Coz car parts in the Philippines are really high.

Start by looking at the VIN and see how it is prefixed. That should tell you were it was assembled. Secondly, on the drivers door jam there should also be some identifying labels that would indicate the country of origin.

On a related note, it is always nice to see photos of the autobodies, but it would also be informationally nice for folks in Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Kuwait to lift the hoods and take some photos of the engine bay. I am aware that the 2.0 litre engine is still available in Asia on the current model. Must be slow, but would be interesting to see what they do under the hood.
