5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
My wife and I purchased a 2007 Camry SE last week, and we're very happy with the car, but we naively purchased Toyota Care Gold extended warranty plan, thinking it might be of some value. But after some research (after the fact, I know, I know), I've come to the conclusion that it wouldn't be worth our while to have it.
So I want to cancel it. Question is this: how easy will it be to do this, and how much resistance can we expect to face? More importantly, what are out legal rights regarding this? My preliminary research seems to indicate we are within our rights to do this, but I just want to make sure.
If you financed the car, I believe you just have to call Toyota Financial Services and tell them you want to cancel the extended warranty. The amount will be applied to decrease the loan balance. Easy to do, no resistance, it is cancellable.
Yes, just as rsb said so. I canceled mine after I had refinanced the loan through the local credit union. Toyota prorated it and I got a good chunk back. So look at the contract....might be an important date to pay attention to which may state that after a certain date, refunds will be prorated. This means hurry your butt up, check the papers for the date, and call them.
If youa re still within the time, make sure they know it also.

Brake lights aren't broken, I just don't brake.

Yes, well within the time frame; it's only been five days.
As for the purchase, I paid cash for both the car and the service plan, so I'm thinking that should simplify things a bit.
I'm going to call the number on the agreement application, and not wait for the actual paperwork to get to us.
This week I had an ignition coil and water pump replaced on my 07 V6 with 40k miles. The water pump was replaced under the powertrain warranty. I paid $300 for the ignition coil (no extended warranty). I've had countless under warranty repairs that have me swearing off all future first year models from any manufacturer.

That's not so bad. Why not keep it?...You never know.
Because neither of us use the car enough to justify having this extra plan, in our minds.
We both work in NYC and only use the car for miscellaneous errands. Granted, many others who spend much more time in their vehicles would consider such a plan a large piece of mind, but this isn't for us.
I was tricked into buying the warranty as well. I called toyota financial service and they want me to either fill out a cancellation form or send in a statement to cancel.
