UK Bluetooth pairing and my iphone 3gs

I was using a Blackberry Curve (8320 model) previously, I paired it when I bought my Camry in 07, and never had to think about it again.

So, recently I bought an iPhone, struggled through the pairing process, but got it paired. It worked for about a week without problem.

Now, every time I start the Camry up, it doesn't pair. The problem does appear to be at the Camry end, as my iPhone keeps all it's paired phone information. i have to run through the pairing process again to hook it up.

Has anyone come across this? Any ideas?

Have you checked the bluetooth settings on the car? There is an option I believe to leave bluetooth on or to check

I'll check tonight, but nothing had changed, other than the pairing of the new phone - so I'd be surprised if it's that

This particular issue is a known problem for a good portion of iPhone users. It only seems to affect iPhone 3.0 software users using a iPhone 2G/3G/3GS. Hopefully the next iPhone update will fix the problem (I sometimes have this issue with my 3GS also).

In the meantime, unpair and repair the phone and see if that helps. Pairing the phone only takes me about 1-2 minutes now, it really shouldn't take you any longer.

1. Turn off bluetooth on the iPhone.
2. Start by deleting any other phones: In your Camry, go to Setup > Phone Setup > Delete all the existing phones (that you don't need)
3. Then go back to the Phone Setup menu and use Pair phone and follow the prompts to add your phone.
4. When the voice prompts tell you to search for the Handsfree device, NOW turn on bluetooth on your iPhone and select "Handsfree", then type in the pin number displayed on your head unit.
5. That's it.

I've paired, unpaired, re-paired the phone over and over - the connection to the bluetooth system doesn't start again after the engine has been shut off.

Do you have links for the iPhone bluetooth issue?

This is just one example of the issue: http://www.theiphoneblog.com/2009/07...estore-repair/ . Have you tried the "Reset Network Settings" thing yet? If not, try that first. If you want, you can also try to restore your iPhone to factory defaults, but that's a pain. If the Reset Network Settings thing doesn't work for you, you might just want to wait for the next iPhone update and see if that fixes anything.
