Question Is this a bad idea?

After I installed my intake into my car, when the engine shakes it shakes the intake and it makes this rattling noise because its really close to one of the engine bay walls. So i squeezed a little white pad in between so that it wouldn't rattle against it. It fits pretty fine and its sturdy i just wanted to make sure it wouldn't damage the intake in any way, shape, or form. Here are some pics. I also installed these pieces that hold the intake sturdy but its so close to the ball that it still makes the noise.

The pad is white, in between the filter and the wall.

some double sided tape would have been a better idea. That way it you know that it won't fall off.

Just stick the tape where the paper is and don't remove the plastic off. Put 2 or 3 strips.

well you have to clean it up with alcohol to make sure that the tape sticks.

Or, you can try the master fabricators advice.

Go to the local hardware store or to a Lowes or Home Depot and see if they have some black hard rubber pads with adhesive on one side. Use those and as stated above, clean the area with alcohol before inserting the pad. Use a Q-tip with alcohol if nothing else will fit in there. I'm not a fan of cotton pads like the one you appear to have used as pieces of cotton will flake off over time and could be sucked up by the intake and bypass the filter. IMHO.
