5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I took my 2007 Camry to a South Georgia Toyota Dealer for a routine oil change and the technician forgot to replace the oil and filter. I have major engine damage and dealer is taking responsibility. My questions is, should I demand an extended warranty? I spoke to Toyota USA and have a case number and hopefully I do not have to hire a Lawyer. If anybody have exprience this please help.

I would request a brand new engine. Not a rebuild.

Well I would agree with demand a new engine. An I imagine that flunky not a tech. Got his walking papers. Its sad that these places will hire unskilled people to do the basic work and not have the skilled ones checking what they have done.
Very sorry to here of your problem.
My sister had that happen here in Canada with a new car was the first oil change and they (not Toyota) dropped in a new engine. But again a new car.
Personally, I would try to get a new car (if your car isn't over a year old). Anything older than that and it might be much harder to get the entire car replaced.
Otherwise you should get a new engine (not a rebuilt one) which should also include a warranty of some kind.
The reason I stopped at that dealer I was traveling from Orlando to Atlanta and stopped to visited my wife's family and need a oil change. I am going to demand a new engine with a 100+ mile warranty. I purchased the car in Dec 2006 and had 42000 miles on it. I live in Atlanta with a lot of stop and go travel.
