Replacing Driver's side fog light assembly

US made 07 XLE. I hit a piece of a trucks retread tire. It knocked out the driver's side fog light assembly and the black plastic trim that goes around it. The fog light assembly needs to be replaced along with the black plastic trim. The bumper is ok. How difficult is it to replace the fog light. Does the black plastic trim play any part in securing the fog light assembly? What's the best way to access it? How many screws secure the fog light assembly? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Search for the DIYs for installing them and there you go. The plastic piece doesn't do anything.

Not trying to hijack your thread.

Wow! This exact thing happened to my 2005 XLE few weeks ago. Strangely, the light bulb and the wire is intact but the bulb is not working. The plastic pieces under the car and in the wheel well are also damaged. My mechanic told me that mounting bracket for the fog lamp is missing.
I plan to buy an assembly off of ebay and glue it in because the mounting bracket is missing. Will this work?

Thanks

Been meaning to but have been buried at work. Will try to do that this weekend.

Question to VA residents - a private inspection station failed my car inspection because the fog light assembly is missing. Does that sound right? I can understand if a head lamp, turn signal lamp, or tail lamp is not working, but a fog light?

The auto repair place that inspected and failed the car for broken fog light had quoted me 200+ for a new assembly, so I bought one off ebay for 90. Unfortunately, couldn't find any free time to install it, so took it to my regular mechanic as the car needed an oil change anyway. He looked in there and told me that the mounting where the bolts are screwed in are broken and he can't install the fog light assembly. He suggested either take it to a body shop or build my own mounting bracket.

So question to you folks - have you encountered this problem? What did you do to resolve it? Is there a way that the assembly can be glued in?

Thanks as always in advance.

The fog lamp is placed on with 2 hangers bracket and secured with a single screw onto the inside of the bumper. So as long as 1 of the hangers are there, you can secure the light with another screw or zip tie it down tightly then you're fine(or glued to pass visual inspection).

If the light is the passenger side, you will have to pull out the bumper to make your work a lot easier.
