Don't you guys have an online tracking system? Toyota Australia uses one where when you order your new Toyota, they give you these login details and you go online to check where exactly your car is whether it be at the factory or in delivery.
What the OP needs to know here is that Toyota USA does things differently than Ford. There is a manufacturing plant or a port of entry if manufactured in Japan. Even if built in Indiana, Texas or Kentucky, it goes to the regional distributor who in turn does what they want to to the car to prep it for distribution to the dealer. They might add wheels, seat covers or other stuff. Toyota Motor Manufacturing does not deal with retailers. It deals with independent franchised distributors. As such, you might make a guess about the mnufacturing date of a particular car, but in fact, it is much more likely that TMM might crank out 20 of a particular color and model, sell them to regional distributors, and then in turn have them retrofitted with additional equipment.
What did you order that was so unusual?

When I got my car last year, my dealer told me when the car was being made (signed on July 3rd) and started to go into production on July 1st. Finance guy told me that he would call me when he got the VIN so I can call my insurance company and have them send the finance guy the information. Once it was at the dealers, he would call me and I would pick it up. From start to delivery...it was about 3 weeks.
GT-R speak for yourself.. I want to get it ASAP. I love it when I order things and it say delivery will be 5 days, and than found it in the mail the next day.. awesome. 2 sec and that box is open and bla bla.. hahaha
just wait. tracking sucks as its not always up to date and you might get pissed it's in 1 place too long. just be happy ups isn't making the car. you would have to go to the factory to pick it up
