Phantom Gray Pearl

Does anyone know if Toyota changed the Phantom Gray color? I have a 2003 Camry and it recently had body work to one door and the side molding needed to be replaced. The new side molding does not match the old one, it is a very different shade (much lighter) of gray. I brought my car back two months later after I finally decided that it needed to be changed. The body shop ordered another front molding and it matches the newly replaced one. So now the body shop is trying to work with toyota to have them supply a new rear side molding so that it will match the front. they will not match the other side of the car but at least the moldings on one side will match. I am wondering if Toyota changed the shade of Phantom Gray sometime after 2003 and this is the new color and my car is the old color or these moldings are just a different color now. Anyone know anything about this or have a similar experience?

Exactly, the new ones are much lighter than the old ones so even if they faded the color is darker so it seems very strange.

Perhaps they sprayed the wrong color on what they repaired? Or has the car had previous paint work done?

The molding is factory painted.

Toyota must have changed the color that they were spraying on these moldings because there is a large difference in the color. I wonder if there is anyway that I can find out.

You guys think the primer could have made a difference? But still after a couple of coats the color of the primer shouldn't effect the base paint.
