5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I recently had the misfortune on my 07 V6 at 50K to have had the major oil pipe leak that luckily happened 3 blocks from my house. The oil was all over most of the engine, under the bottom of the car, the street, my driveway and of course all over my garage. Upon pulling the dip stick and finding no oil on it, panic set in and I saw many $ signs. I had the car towed to my dealer who was able to fix it under the power train warranty. What if I was on a major highway when this happened?
Does this seem to be an issue with 07’s? My service advisor wrote on my repair order that the repair was as per TSB EG064-05. In doing a search for this TSB it came back to reference the 05 Avalon’s. Is there a newer TSB for this issue?
Who should I contact regarding the safety issue with this? By the way not one warning light lit up on the dashboard
I can't answer your questions but can add a few of my own that I would be concerned with if it happened to me:
- You drove 3 blocks home after this leak first started? I would be concerned with any possible engine damage if there was an insufficient amount of oil in the engine while driving. I know it's three blocks, but that's still time when the engine was possibly running without sufficient lubrication.
- Did they check the engine for any damage?
- Did they give you a Root Cause Analysis on why this happened other than just the service repair code?
Just my two cents. I'm glad you avoided a very bad circumstance had you been on the highway far from home.

Nothing new in this thread so why start another new one?
Thanks for your help!!!! Don't you have anything better to do. Maybe some people would like to get some additional information. We all can't be as "smart" as you.

I think he just likes attention, so just ignore him. But most people want to be liked, and not hated.

Thanks, guess there is not to much to do in Tacoma. I have read some of his replys in other posts and for some reason he is very sarcastic. It's to bad because some people like myself are just looking for some answers. I did read all of the previous post on this subject but some of them were many months old. I was just looking for newer information. Thanks again,
Bob
I did read all of these before I posted my question. It just seemed that these were 5 or 6 months old and I was looking to see if there was any updated information.
Thanks, I appreciate your help.
Bob
Nothing new, seem like Toyota is ignoring it's customer's problem. They do have the fix for the Avalon but they didn't give it the same treatment to the Camry V6.
