Gen5 axle nut

Help!! I am trying to replace the half shafts on a 02 camry. the nut holding on the wheel hub looks like it is crimped into the slot on the threaded shaft. Can anyone tell me how it comes off? Is it actually threaded or just a cover?

You need to get a punch to knock the crimped part out of the groove to unscrew the nut. You MUST replace the nut with new ones, you cannot re-use them. Once you torque the new nuts, you need to use a punch to crimp it into the groove so it will not back off.

REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB LH NUT
Using SST and a hammer, unstake the staked part of the front axle hub LH nut. SST 09930-00010 NOTICE: Loosen the staked part of the lock nut completely, otherwise the screw of the drive shaft may be damaged.
While applying the brakes, remove the front axle hub LH nut.
