I have a 07 Camry SE with only 15k on the dash and my AC went out. It worked fine no gradual lost just from one day workin great to next day blowing hot air. I took it to the dealer and they said they ran a 30 minute vaccume test and found no leaks but there was zero freon in the system. They recharged it under warranty and the AC worked better than ever took her home and the next day no AC again. I scheduled a appt at another dealer and they told me if they find damage from like a rock or something its a $170 diagnostic charge. This entire thing sounds very weird to me anybody have something similar happen or no?
It will take a nice sized rock to get past the grill and still hit with enough force to break the condenser. If the dealer sucked down to two atmospheres and it held vacuum for half an hour, with the gauge set attached, and then it was out the next morning, then my first guess would be that one of the two schraeder valves is leaking. It would not have been noted during the test because you leave the gauges on to measure pressure and suction. Take it off and if it leaks, then it leaks and they aren't measuring that. Take it to the first dealr that did the work under warranty. It is still covered. Tell them the problem. Suggest that they reseat or replace the schraeder valves. Tell them why. I'm guessing that's all it is. If they charge it again, take the caps off and put some soapy water on the valve and see if it bubbles out......
You can go to your local parts store and get a valve stem removal tool that you can use to see if the stem is seated or not. I don't really think you have much of a problem if it held vacuum for half an hour.

Yeah I doubt that its a condensor issue. I already have an appointment with a second dealer tommorow so I'll mention the Schraedor valves. I apreciate the help Thanks.

I had the same problem last summer with similar mileage. It turned out that the o-ring was faulty. It was replaced under warranty. I did not have to pay any diagnostic fees. The A/C has been great ever since, blowing really cold air.
So like I mentioned before it was my HID ballast that came loose and rubbed one of the ac lines. THis was figured out at dealer B after dealer A didnt find a leak. So I removed the HID's and took it back to dealer A they gave me a loaner convertible solara for the week and replaced the AC lines on the camry. I'm quessing its a new part for the 2010 camry bacauce its a differente settup than what my 07 had. BUt it works great now and it was FREE!!!! well nt really I paid 1500 for the BS extended warranty but the inner dealer invoice was $550 so I'm happy after dealer B quoted me $650 to repair it.
I have been having an issue since January where after my car has been sitting outside all day in the Arizona sun, while I'm working. the Air Conditioner will flat not turn on at all, although the AC Panel lights will illuminate, but NO AC whatsoever. The AC has been kicking in only after about 15-20 minutes of driving when this happens. Once the AC kicks back on, it operates as normal. I have kept current on my scheduled maintainence.
The only consistencies I can note is that this never occurs when operating the car for the first time each day. I do park the car in my garage overnight.
I have taken the car to my Toyota Dealer twice now, but obviously, it never acts up at the dealer. They can't / won't fix what they can't duplicate. I also have a Toyota Extended warranty. This is getting aggravating as there is definitely something going on.
Can anyone please impart some knowledge to me if you have a clue what may be going on here??? Thanks...

Hmmm...interesting. Well the AC in Camry has always been a weak performer from day 1, too. It's an 07 car. It's now 2.5 years old and 77000km old.
On even a moderately hot day, I need to almost turn the AC to the max to get it down to a comfortable temperature inside.
The heater, however, works perfectly. In the winter I basically never need to run it past 50% fan speed.
You guys got me thinking...maybe I should get my mechanic to check that Freon stuff. I know he has some sort of pumping device with a special Freon tank in it...
