Question O2's - left/right?? Bosch/Denso??

The bank 1 a/f sensor seems on its way out. The car is a 1999 v6 1MZFE

Since this is the sensor one before the "precat" I assume this is the California standard sensors...

The option of sensors are

- Bosch part# 15217

- Denso #2349009 - Front right
- Denso #2349007 - Front left

Questions

1. Should I go for the denso or the bosch? Any known issues with either?
2. Which is the left and right of the engine? I understand the bank2 is what you see as soon as you open the hood and bank1 is the one closer to the firewall.

If one is going, the other two are probably not far behind.

Camry V6 is a low volume production, and the fronts are only made by Denso. Bosch is a manufacturer and a redistributor, which means they also package what they don't make to serve as a one-stop shop. So just get the cheapest.

However, for the downstream, I'd recommend Bosch Planar sensor. This design is more resistant to contamination. It's just a much superior sensor.

Bosch planar type:

I can offer with some uncertainty that left is the front bank and right is the rear bank. It goes back to the day when all engines were mounted axially.

Yep.. I ordered the one listed as "right" for the bank1.

And I'll add more.

Looking from the transmission side towards the drive belt side. The Right Bank is on the right and the Left Bank is on the left. When Toyota mounted this engine transversely with the drive belt side on the passenger side, then the Right Bank now faces the firewall and the Left Bank towards the radiator.

I wonder if they mount this engine the other way in Japan and UK (driver side on the right)?? If so the Right Bank will face the radiator!!

Also look at the little tab showing on the head gasket. "L" or "R".
