Gen6 Maintenance Light wont go out

Yesterday the maintenance light came on which I found weird because it has about 500 mi or 4 weeks til the next oil change. So I checked the oil and it was low which is also weird cuz I have had the car for two years and haven't had to put more oil in it between oil changes until now. So after I put more oil in it the light still wont go out. Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm waiting for someone here to say:

"USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION"

We don't even have a maintenance required indicator on our Camry's here in Australia, but I can still tell you how to get it to turn off. It has been discussed here many times as well. Anyways:

1. OIL MAINTENANCE INFORMATION MODE RESET OPERATION

HINT:

• The trip meter reset knob is located on the right side of the combination meter assembly.
• This reset operation is required only for U.S.A..

(a) without multi-information display:
(1) Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
(2) Press the ODO/TRIP switch until the odometer appears.
(3) Ignition switch off.
(4) Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
(5) Turn the ignition switch on (IG) while pressing and holding the trip meter reset knob. Hold the trip meter reset knob until the following conditions are met and 5 seconds have passed.
• When oil change reminder light turns off, the reset is complete.

(b) with multi-information display:
(1) Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
(2) Press the ODO/TRIP switch until the odometer appears.
(3) Ignition switch off.
(4) Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
(5) Turn the ignition switch on (IG) while pressing and holding the trip meter reset knob. Hold the trip meter reset knob until the following conditions are met and 5 seconds have passed.
• The multi-information display shows "MAINT REQD RESET MODE".
• The master caution indicator light illuminates.
• When oil change reminder light turns off, the reset is complete.
(6) When "MAINT REQD RESET MODE COMPLETE" disappears and the master caution indicator light turns off, the reset is complete.

just go get your oil changed and follow the steps above and then check for oil leaks in your garage/driveway for oil spills in case you have a leak.... now that his question is answered a mod should lock this

The light comes on to let you know that its almost time to get your oil change like a reminder. The light does not come on when it hits the 5,000 mile mark. So from now until the 4 weeks or so, get your oil change done.
