Gen6 new to camry questions Gen 6

Hey everyone im new here with a few post so far great site i just got a 07 camry so far got 72k on it. want to do mods on it
i come from Honda and going between honda toyota and have my eyes on lexus as well.

anyhow here someone of a long thread thanks...

I would like to know about the lip kit (aero kit) for the camry oem style prices? to get an ideal

Tires and wheels

i might of missed it but would like to know what you guys think on tires and wheels?

in california theirs very little rain and i want somthing that grips the road well, could care less if it doesnt last long, wont be tracking it.

Hid kit

i've seen just about the lowest priced hid kits to very expensive ones, sure its by built quality brand and so on, but is their a guideline or are any low end good enough?

i saw these recently any takes?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/H11-H...=p4506.c0.m245

Would like to know what mods for the sound or performance is there?

air intake?

and any threads or issues?

exhaust?

not custom just bolt on ....

I.C.E
need a cd player with a new dash kit

i want to remove everthing and noticed that the dash it has speakers or are they tweeters?

i heard of a brand that seems to be very popular on these forums.
well i think that about does it for now as i cant seem to remember much at the moment.

edit : since i got my car used i noticed that it had this "crime stoper" device as my keyless entry well unlock/lock.

and i was wondering dont gen 6 (2007)+ come with a kill switch or like a code key?

also that key is not a generic key and to open the trunk i need to open it manuely inside the car cant use the key, doesnt sound like an alarm i locked it and kick the tires no sound and the security logo inside the car does seem to flash thought....?

comments thanks guys!

Welcome.

#1 - Newbies please read before posting!
#2 - HIDs - Ultimate Retrofit thread/hid thread.
#3 - Performance...none unless you do custom turbo. Sound? Exhaust or intake. Search for more information
#4 - You want exhaust that is bolt on? You'll have to get it custom. You buy exhaust, take it to muffler shop and they weld pipes to fit your car. Only other option is TRD but costs more. Search for more information. Had you asked a couple days earlier or last week, I was selling bolt-on exhausts for $200. They are now sold
#5 - There are plenty of threads in regards to headunits and speakers

Gen 6 comes with immobilizers. If someone does not have the original key, they can not start the car. The keys have a transponder chip. You can tell by looking at near the bottom of the key right before the base and there is a small dot.

If you cant open the trunk from the outside, that means you have a valet key. The key will not open the trunk from the outside or your glove box if locked. It will only work to open the door and start the car. This is the key you give to valets when they park your car....hence the name, valet key.

Just because you have a light flashing doesnt mean you have an alarm that will sound.

Hi dcemureviews i did read # 1 but a link to body kits isnt the same answer as like current cost for oem style kit. but i did go with it like i said it might of been also buried in this website. dont want to do a retro fit just a simple reliable hid kit. ok fair enough about intakes any common ones though?

as far as exhaust when i meant bolt on i dont mean that to a T i should of just been specific i dont want to run into alot of issues with fitment but if i cannot do a install then a shop might have to do a weld.

whats so special between a tpyical muffler found in a shop as aposed to an exhaust system made for exact car? trd?

ok and if i have a valet key then my options are to

install a aftermarket alarm with trunk pop option

or to get a key and go thro toyota to program it?

If you want current cost of OEM kits, call your local Toyota dealership for prices. If you do a search for intakes, it will give you all the threads that mention it. K&N is the most popular. Go to www.knfilters.com to find out model number and go to your local auto store for price or search online like ebay or google. Someone also posted a DIY on making your own.

If you're looking for HKS, Megan, Tanabe or any exhaust, they will all have to be custom done.

This is direct bolt on that was custom done so that there is no fitment issues.

Yes, install and aftermarket alarm with trunk popper or go to Toyota and get a master key. Getting a master key would cost half or as much as an aftermarket alarm.

You can also go the ebay route and get an uncut key. Take that key to Toyota and have them cut and program for a fee.

Thanks guys! sorry for questions that seem simple, as i said i come from honda, my 06 civic well everywhere you look you see mods, and such people do like group buys, or know someone that is willing to sell at dealer cost or a dealership selling for less etc etc... and i was looking for those kind of results with lip kits oem or not, adding the cost of paint to the oem compared to other.

since if i do go with an aftermarket alarm and my only options are Bestbuy and small local stores, well it can go both ways as a typical younger working on my car with little experience or those that cut corners in our local shops, so i feel stuck, i was looking for a viper alarm

unlock/lock trunk pop and (optional) a 2 way pager? so that if someone touches the car i will know.

but will it work out or will there be glitches/issues since this car has a immobilizer?

ps: the security thing thats inside the console is that just for looks to scare off people im assuming...?

just take it to a local alarm shop. Make sure their reputation is good. DO NOT GO TO BEST BUY

Just because you're new, you should still browse the forum.

If you're looking for Viper alarm, go to vipers website and locate an authorized installer/dealer.

2 way alerts you when your alarm is active and someone or something sets it off. It lets you know that the alarm is going off. Depending which alarm you get, it may have a LCD screen and it will let you know what set it off whether it be a door, window or trunk.

If you are getting remote start, you need to by a Viper Transponder Bypass XK-05. If there were glitches or issues, it wouldnt be for sale.

There are threads about alarms. Do a search. Not everything will be hand fed to you.

I dont know what it does but the bypass tricks the car into thinking a key is in the ignition so that the remote start can start the car. Other option is to give up valet key and that is left inside the car somewhere hidden but thats not possible since your only key is the valet.

Take you car over to the guys at Lott's Stereo on Pacific ave in Santa Cruz, They've been in business since 1955 and really know their stuff. BTW, Welcome to Toyota Nation. Be sure and post up some pictures of your car when you get time.

Yep, thats them. I used to take my cars to them for years. Until I left Santa Cruz that is. There isn't a more reputable shop in a 50 mile radius from Watsonville. Yes their on Pacific Ave about four or five blocks from the beach.

Strange

If I am getting this right, you only got the valet key?

I must say it is very strange that you have bought a 2007 and you only got the valet key. May I suggest you do a Carfax on it? That car came with 2 full keys (keys with buttons for locking and unlocking doors, and opening trunk and a valet key).

I can only think of bad reasons that you could of purchased such a new car and only got that key, Your not gonna like my thinking.
