Its the same one I have but slightly thicker. You will not get pulled over. If the lens was completely black, you would have issues. Since you can see inside, you will have no problems.
The one the OP posted is just darker. It could either be in the lens that is darker or the inside chrome is darker. By the looks of it, the inside is darker.
I looked at pics in the show section and I was trying to decide between black and smoke but the pics are taken in different light so I'm not sure what the exact effect is. My car is a black SE so I was curious as to what people think between black and smoked. I see a lot of the cars go with the smoke and I think the effect is more easily visible. The black seems to only slim the silouette of the tail light. Opinions?

Search for the user tobeit. He has a black SE with smoked LEDs. The reason why there are more smoked LEDs is because that was what was originally available. The black LEDs that you see now are new and recently offered.
Regardless of what you get, both will look good. Theres no one here with the black LEDs (that I know of). Its your ultimate decision on what you buy. Some will tell you to get smoke, some will tell you to get black. In the end, you're at square one, thinking of which to get because you're getting mixed ideas or results.
