My name is Miron(Vancouver,Canada),I got Camry 2002 v6 xle month ago with 156K on it.I got noise coming from the left side of engine where timming belt is.Coud be idler1,idler2 or water pump pulley bearing???
Thanks!
I know the '07 V6 have issue with the water pump at around 100K but I think the '02 have a completely different engine so... help U bump to get your answer.
I'd check to see if there is a sticker on the cam sprocket cover (left side of the engine) to see when/if the timing belt was replaced. Technically the belt should have been replaced at 90,000 miles, so you may be past due on that item.
I would remove the cover to inspect the belt and if it needs replacing you will want to replace the idlers and the water pump while you have access.
Holy smokes! 156 thousand miles on a 7 year old car. That's insane. I've got a little over 5 thousand on my 1 year old '09 Camry. I hope you figure out what the cause of the engine noise is.

Oh yeah, Welcome to Toyota Nation.
What are you talking about? 5000km in 1 year is insane. You must be storing the car in the garage 24/7.
At my rate of driving, if I were to keep my car for 7 years, I'd hit 245000.

Sorry I should've been more specific with my details. I live in the USA so it's actually 5k miles on my odometer. To answer your question, The camry is my DD.
I just sold my 2002 F150 with 39K miles on it, and I bought it used with 16K already on it. The pickup was my DD for nearly 6 years before I bought the camry to replace it. I guess I just don't drive as much as you all.
