My 02 Camry vibration issues

Hi,

I am new here, so go easy on me

There is something terribly wrong with my 02 I4 Camry. It's not like its going bad, but unable to fix issues are driving me nuts. I have a vibration issue for a long time and I cannot eliminate completely. Here they are.

1. The steering wheel starts to vibrate at 60 MPH. I can feel a slight vibration on the pedal too. The vehicle is not very stable on the road, though.
2. It also vibrates when applying the brakes.

Here is what I did.

Bought new wheels. Big mistake. It didn't solve anything.
Bought the front tires. Helped a little, but only a little.
Did the balancing. It helped, but the vibration is still there.

I am going to change the rotors and I guess, it may eliminate the vibration while applying the brakes, but I am not sure if its gonna solve the stability issues.

Should I do alignment? The steering wheel is slighty off, but only a little bit.

I really feel bad blowing up money and not getting any results

1) That case is a tire balancing problem. Take it to a new shop.
2) That is a warped rotor. Get it resurfaced or replaced.

Improper alignment or tire balancing can cause the rotors to warp over time. Just another sidenote. Good luck w/ your troubles and I hope everything gets solved soon.

paul has it on the dot, and i second his suggestions. your current shop may be doing a poor job at tire balancing (i.e. static balancing).

In addition to the suggections given I would have your mechanic check the wheel bearing(s). My tire shop told me that one of my front wheels had a loose bearing after I had new tires installed. I did notice vibration after the new tires where installed and I thought they did not balance the tires correctly. I let it go for a little while and I ended up having to replace the hub and the bearing. After the repair the vibration was gone.

It is also posssible that you have a bad tire. There are some tires that can't be balanced. If you rotate your tires and the problem goes away then it's not your bearings.
