5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I've seen some JDM Cars such as G35s and TSX's and some have a strip of LEDs behind on their grill. But positioning is not important as I wish to project them from behind my grill, so my grill lights up rather than seeing a strip of LEDs from the outside. Does anyone know which one's I should get and how I would wire them so it can turn on with my Parking Lights & Lo Beams, etc?
That would be interesting if you get it done, be sure to post pics.
I would recommend a longer LED strip or maybe a flexible one. Can get those cheaper than $20.99 and it will have a uniform strip of light instead of two separate ones.
Only bad thing about them is that they are not waterproof. So if you're going to use them for that purpose, you'll have to cover up the ends with silicone or something. CTMike had 4" oznium cathodes there. One of them stopped working because it went through a power wash or car wash or something.
Get oznium's LED lights that are waterproof. I'm interested in knowing how to wire as well. I remember CTMike telling me but cant remember. Still trying to figure out how to wire LED light strip on my hood. So when I open hood, light turns on and illuminates my engine bay
check out hid planet or TRFS. hidplanet always has someone selling a waterproof LED strip in the for sale section. TRFS has some always available but i forget if they are waterproof or not.
tada! im here... haha yeah man the cold cathodes are the way to go a i feel because of the 360 light projection. i had to place them in a spot where they could be visible though because otherwise it just didnt light up like i wanted it to... here is a picture of my car at night to give you a little feel for it. sorry for the crap quality ifs from my cell
now one of mine did get wet and therefore ruined because i didnt take the proper precautions in waterproofing them so when i finally get around to ordering new ones i will be waterprofing them with clear silicone before i put them in. also ordering 12 inch ones i think haha
also i didnt hook it up to the parking lights as it is actually illegal to drive with them on where i live so i ran wire inside and to a switch... PM me if you want to know more about that
the emblem is the bomb haha... i tried to find a spot where i could put the bulbs without having to see them but it was hard... prolly something im going to look into more with the 12" ones cause they are bigger and will be more noticeable if they are just in the grill

Hey! CTMike nice mod I didn't know you and I shared the same idea :P.
Bro do you think you can show me how to wire it to a switch? I heard somewhere it's legal but I guess now my hunch has been confirmed and it is in fact illegal, so which is why I would need a switch :P
