Gen 6 I-4 Intake Snorkel

Inside the stock airbox, under the filter, is a small snorkel where the air comes in. It seems a bit restrictive. It is easily removable. Has anyone removed this little snorkel? Any difference? 1 thing says... less restrictive, another thinks that this little snorkel could be acting like a velocity stack, and shouldn't be removed. I don't know. I mean it's before the filter, so it's probably not acting as a velocity stack, and it's such a minor mod that it most likely won't make much of a difference... I'm just curious.

behind the fender might be a large tank that is used to help muffle the noise. if you remove that the car will have a deeper tone when at wot

I'm guessing you're talking about the sound dampener. You can take it off, but can't put it back on

I noticed that too when I put in my K & N. I didn't worry about it, thought it must have some purpose I have never had a car quite like it before. I know they think about every little piece they put on now. Build it all in a computer before they ever make it.
