A/C Light Does Not Illuminate and A/C does not engage

I have a 2004 Camry where the A/C was working in the morning. I then pressed the AC button to turn off the A/C and it went off. Later in the afternoon I needed the A/C again and I went to hit the A/C button and the A/C did not engage nor did the green light illuminate. The blower fan is working, and the heat works, but no A/C.

I have seem some threads on the magnetic clutch relay for flashing lights. Could these be the solution for my issue?

if the green light illuminates for a second and starts blinking, you need a magnetic clutch relay....if the light doesnt illuminate and you cannot hear the compressor clutch engauge (open hood, turn on a/c and listen for a clunk and whirring sound, thats the compressor clutch kicking on) then its time to head to your dealer for an inspection as you may need a compressor or clutch

Button is sunken....

What is interesting about the AC button on the dash is that it appears to be in the pushed in state. Normally this button, like the defrost button depresses and comes back to the same state whether you are turning it on or off. The AC button appears to not be coming back into the standard state. It is recessed ~1mm. Do the buttons on the climate control knobs go bad?
