Thumbs up Wtb Camry Or Gti

well thanks for the info in my last post...

I have another problem... lol

i test drove a camry v6...nice...fast...comfortable

i also drove a 2009 vw gti also nice....fast...comfortable (i would wait to buy the 2010 cause it looks nicer then the 2009)

what do you guys think would be a better drive for someone who commutes 160 miles a day?

I like fast cars but i also want reliability something i wouldn't have to put a lot of money in to make fast

When I was shopping back in 2007, I was also strongly considering the VW GTI (4 doot hatch). I had actually considered the GTI until I drove it and sat in it.

1) The GTI is tiny - you cannot possibly fit 2 adults in the back and the cargo is useless.
2) The GTI does not perform well enough.
3) It's way overpriced.

I must admit that I have NEVER EVER thought of getting ANY kind of VW once I got the Camry SE V6.

I like the GTI well enough, but like others said the back seats are tiny. The car doesn't feel as big as the Camry though and is much easier to navigate in traffic and in parking lots.

I like gti, gti is probably better on gas and if you chip it, it will be much faster.
Camry is really nice lots of space in the back for people v6 is pretty fast
I think these cars are in a different class, why arent you comparing camrys to accords and altimas?

My last car was a Jetta, I think the fit and finish is better on the Jetta (a relative to the GTI) than my new Camry and I never had any rattles with it like I do with my 2010 Camry. I find the comfort for long distance driving just a tad better in the Camry. Now the kicker, a big one. I have no idea what the reliability is like in the Camry it is new. But not only was the Jetta (which shares most mechanicals of the GTI) very expensive for parts (jobber parts did not last),They went fast and often. It is my main reason going to Toyota on all I read. I think VW is overpriced, and in the long run to pricy to maintain. If you need back seat space you will not get it in the GTI. If your biggest interest is fun the GTI will out handle, out drive and please you alot more than the Camry. It has 70 less ponys than the Camry but with the weight difference I am sure the GTI is just as quick or quicker.
You have 2 conflicting needs GTI wins in sporting Camry in maintaining.

+1

The GTI has better handling and potential as far as aftermarket support goes. It's more of a drivers car.

Get the Camry if interior space is a priority and you want a no frills point a-to-b commuter.

The two vehicle's are not even comparable. Camry vs. Jetta GLI, maybe! Downside to GLI it needs premium gas.

Both are nice cars, and I have always had a love for the GTI. But the truth is that VW's are not as reliable as a Toyota or Honda, and they don't have the same resale. Look at a Accord and look at the Camry, you will find one that fits you best.

i dont compare apples to apples because i want a car that fits me i already ruled out the accord cause i just dont like the layout and thats the same thing with the gli its to squished to be a sedan lol

I am an autoparts salesman so i get all my parts at cost so that isn't really going to be an issue
