Gen6 Burned out foglights..AGAIN!

So first I changed my foglights to Mtech 4350k Foglights to match my 5000k white HIDs, but one burned out after a few days. Given maybe I had purchased HID bulbs (i didn't) and maybe it was just a bad bulb, I gave Luminics 5000k Titanium White (High Performance Halogen Bulbs as it says on the box) a go. Within 4 days, the right one burns out. I forgot which Mtech burned out but it could be the left one or right now, either way, I have 1 of each bulb.

Now I really want some bright foglights, but they keep burning out..

The Luminics were recommended by a user here on TN, I usually drive with foglights on if my low beams are on. I don't night drive often, maybe 1 hour max. But somehow that still burns out my foglights....

Can anyone suggest a way to fix this? Or will I just have to stick with the futile stock ones ..

Did you touch the bulbs with your fingers when you installed them by any chance?

^ +1 if you get too much 'oil' on them, it may cause them to go, either that or something is wrong with the wiring/harness. I too drive with my fogs on 24/7 and my Nyoka (sp?) 3000k have held up for over a year and still going, I drive alot as well.

Gen6

Keep your fingers off the glass bulb......My MTECS (High, Low, fogs) have been in for almost 3 years with NO burnouts.

yea you must of touched it. mine haven't burned out yet at all. i don't drive much on them anymore. i see no difference on the road with them off or on. just use them for show and the real purpose of them(fog).

yup you probably touched the bulb. the oil that is on your fingers is left on the bulb, and when it heats up, it causes a hotspot and burns out.

Good idea to wipe off bulb with rubbing alcohol prior to screwing into headlight assembly!

that's why i always wear gloves when handling incandescent or halogen bulbs. prevents this from happening and definitely prolongs the life of the bulb.

I don't think you should clean it with anything. Just don't touch any glass. It should be clean in it's container without contaminant.

you can clean them and they'll be fine. i have touched by accident my d2s bulbs but cleaned them properly with special wipes i got from retrofitsource and they have been fine for a while now. the wipes are pure alcohol pads. i never touched any of my original bulbs though or my luminics.
