Please help. Very frustrated with my new car. I have a 2010 Toyota Camry SE with 975 miles. After a week of driving the car I noticed a noise at 10 mph. I took it to the service tech at the dealership and he explained that it was the ABS and I was shown the pump under the hood that was actually making the clicking sound at 10 mph. So it was normal to have a clicking sound at 10 mph. I have also been on many forums and read many posts by Toyota owners. A few have also mentioned a clicking sound at 20 mph. The last couple of days I have been listening for this and of course I hear it, but the one at 20 mph is very very faint. Is this part of the ABS self check as well? Why does it do it twice? The clicking at 20 mph is very very faint and you really have to be listening with no extra car noise (radio, air, etc...) to hear it.
Is it a repeating clicking noise as you slow down below 20mph, or does it click just once each time while you slow down beyond 20mph?
My 2007 clicks once for each time I turn on the car once I slow down below 15mph or so. But then I don't here a click again until after I turn off engine and turn it on again. So far no one has mentioned what this click was.
The tech is correct. The noises ar 10 and 20 MPH are the antilock braking system running a self-check. It should state that somewhere in your owner's manual. Just drive and enjoy the car.
Is it a small click or a clunk sound? For me, it sounds like the sway bar hitting something every time I drive onto the street in the morning. I was about to take it into the dealership this weekend
Yeah, I bought a camry se 2010 last August and I am having the same "thugging" noise under the hood everytime I start the engine and when the vehicle begins to accelerate. However, I would only hear the noise when I start the engine and begin to accelerate. After that, no more unless if I turn off the engine and restart it again. Then I could hear a thug noise under the hood right after it moves. Please help. I really don't know how to explain it. I hear in this forum that the ABS brake doing self-check. But its a new car and it shouldn't make any noise at all right?! Please somebody explain to me what has the dealer says about this problem. I haven't took mine yet because of busy schedule and the dealer wants me to take it on a weekday in the morning. Let me know if anyone has the same problem. Thanks. Will keep you posted.

Like Pawel said read ALL the above comments! Every Gen6+ Camry has this click noise. Personally, if the ABS self-check noise stops, I would be much more concerned...
I have an 09 v6 SE with about 2300 miles on it. I also hear the noise. If its just a self check it shouldnt affect anything.
It happens everytime you go forwards at slow speed right after you turn on the car. You'll notice backing wont make a noise. Sometimes I feel the clunk striaght through my foot on the accelerator.
I noticed my car idles rougher than it did when it was new. I'm going to take it for an oil change and see if it quiets smooths the engine. When my car was new and I was sitting at a stop light, I couldnt hear or feel my own engine. Usually I hear other peoples engines. Now I notice a very minor shaking at idle.
haha i always have mine up too in the morning. either the music is real good or i'm listening to the phone pranks. plus i have gotten used to the knock.
