Hey guys, Ive noticed that when i turn traction control off (with the switch) and put it in manual mode it still shifts automatically. In other words it wont hold the gear i put it on. With traction control on it works normally. Is this a new feature or something? Should i take it to the dealer?

well with the traction off i'm guessing the wheels spin much easier. the computer i believe will change to higher gear so that you spin less and take off. also this prevents some wear and tear.
i read the manual from cover to cover when i got the car, and it said nothing about traction control changeing the way sequential shift works. The 08 holds gears no matter what, but it has no traction control so idk.

Toyota's sequential shift is not what you think it is. If it goes from 1st up to the gear you selected and no higher then there is nothing wrong.
Ive been using it for almost 2 years and i know how its supposed to work. Say I'm at a dead stop and i have it in 1st gear. IF i accelerate its not supposed to leave 1st gear, and doesnt with trac on. With traction control off it shifts from 1st to second at redline even if i have the selector in 1st.

Pfft...too complicated. I have everything sorted 1 to 5 and R.
I love gear boxes that can do that.
Some cars do have that as a feature to minimize damage to the motor or trany. If you put it in first gear with TC off and started burning out you risk damaging both. Since TC won't let you burn out there is no need for it. I haven't tried it in the Camry's but i know that Audis will change gears if you are jumping off the limiter for more then 2 seconds or something like that.
