5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
So when I drive my car (09 LE v6 with 7300 miles on it), the automatic shifting of the transmission has gotten really bumpy all of a sudden. Sometimes when it shifts up and EVERYTIME it shifts down, the car pretty much jumps back and forth and you can feel the shifts, its not smoothe at all compared to when I first bought the car. Now I've already had quite a bit of trouble with this car, it pulls to the right (took it to the dealership 3 times and it still pulls to the right...) and now I've got this tranny problem. The tranny problem is fucking annoying when driving, its almost like the car is stalling out on an automatic transmission. Idk what to do, should I take it back in cuz its on warranty and complain? I feel like I bought a faulty products and I'm stuck with it cuz idk waht to do...Please advise, Thanks all.
1) The pulling is an easy fix. Go to a reputable hand alignment place. Don't go to a place that uses a computer, but go to one which is all done by hand. These guys will touch up everything from camber to toe settings to alignment. You can do this, or you can go into the dealership and complain that they couldn't fix it on 3 different occasions.
2) As for your tranny, take it into your warranty and complain.

yea it shouldn't be jerking like that. i think they might even have to replace your tranny. the alignment like paul said, go to a place that does it by hand. if your really want then pm me and i'll get u in at the place my dad works. they did my friends after drop and it's perfect. as long as you don't have bigger rims than 18s then your ok.
hey paul and paul thanks for the quick replies guys, yeah ill probably stop by at the dealership sometime next week, i hope they do something big to fix the car already cuz i want all the probs with the cam to be done before the warranty is up. i don't have any upgraded rims on it, its sitting on the 16 inch 50th anniversary rims, i haven't done anything to the car, thats why i don't get why the tranny suddenly started giving problems when its shifting lol. if i was messing around with it, then i would have something to blame but its just idk, i got the cream of the crop on this one lol. my moms 09 4 cylinder camry is fine, we havent had a problem with it. mine on the other hand, hehe
IMO, the Aisin U660E transmission on the V6 is bad news. In 2007 they skipped gears and flare right out of the factory. Consumer Reports subsequently dropped its recommendation. I would think Toyota fixed it by now. But you own it and it's under powertrain warranty, so they'll need to fix it (or tell you it's normal ).
Have them document problems they can't fix. So after warranty expires you'll still have a case. Get a service writer to ride and document.

I have the same problem.
I took it to the dealership last week and they said they re-calibrated something in the transmission...
I still have the same problem so I took it to the dealership again.
As of right now, my car is in the dealership being tested or something, I hope they find the problem or might as well just give me a brand new tranny.
