Gen6 T-SB-0284-09 August 21, 2009 Sunvisor Mount Loose

2007 – 2010 Camry, Camry HV

If the driver and front passenger sunvisors are operated forcefully, the mounting area of the sunvisor on the vehicle body may become damaged. If this has occurred, the sunvisor may become loose from the mounting area located on the headliner. To address this condition, newly designed
mounting brackets have been made available to reinstall the sunvisors. Follow the procedures in this bulletin to install the mounting brackets.

Thumbs up

Thank you for this info, as well as your other TSB info regarding the brake vibration!

My car is in the shop today for the issues I've been having stated in another thread, and one of which is the sunvisors came out. I contacted my service rep and asked to check into these other two issues so we'll see what the outcome is.

Thank you!

too bad this doesn't cover the actual sun visor breaking, i am out both sun visors because of the stupid plastic mechanism that turns the light on.

FYI, the brackets are plate steel. It would take a elephant to pull them out of there.

Replacing Visor

My sister had an 07 Camry, the visor broke so she ordered another ($100) and they wanted $60 bucks to replace it. She brought it to me, I popped off the plastic cover (where the screws used to be in older visors) and popped the old visor out. Once you have the old visor out, it's pretty easy to see how the new one goes in, just remove the retainer clips if they stayed in the roof. The new visor came with the new retainer clips mounted. Remove the plastic cover from the new one because that is how the new retaining clips stay spread out and hold the new visor. Press the new visor into the holder, then pop the plastic retainer into its place and it will hold the new visor in place. I took the old visor apart to see why it broke, and it's VERY POOR engineering on Toyota's part. Someone really missed it on this, my guess is the new visor won't last two years either....
